Glenmark Research Centre [GRC]

In view of the growing importance of captive access to cutting-edge research, Glenmark invested in a state-of-the-art R&D facility . Located at Mahape, Navi Mumbai, GRC is a sprawling facility spread over more than 70,000 sq. ft.

   Glenmark research centre has a team of highly qualified scientists with postdoctoral experience from universities in US / Europe engaged in drug discovery, drug delivery systems, process development and analytical research.

   The Centre is equipped with modern scientific equipments and a range of laboratories with medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, drug metabolism & pharmacokinetics [DMPK] and toxicology capabilities to carry out drug discovery and development as per national / international standards and regulations.

  
Scientists at Glenmark represent GRC at various national / international seminars. Results of in-house research are published on regular basis in peer-reviewed international journals.

Glenmark set up a wholly owned subsidiary Glenmark Pharmaceuticals S.A. in Switzerland in July 2004. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals S.A (GSA) has established an international team of highly qualified scientists with biopharmaceutical research experience. The Company functions as the nerve centre for activities related to the group's intellectual property .and has a Biologics research centre in Neauchatel.

Glenmark is among the few Indian pharmaceutical players targeting new drug discovery and biologics research. Glenmark has a strong pipeline of 13 research programs.

   2008- Glenmark completed preclinical development for initiating Phase I trials for GBR 500 – a monoclonal antibody for inflammation.
   2008- Glenmark’s molecule for Neuropathic Pain, Osteoarthritis - GRC 10693, to enter Phase I trials. GRC 10693 is Glenmark’s fifth molecule to enter clinical trials.
   2008- Glenmark to initiate Phase I studies for GBR 500 by filing its IND application with the US-FDA. Glenmark is now the first Indian company to have a novel biologic molecule in the clinics that could be marketed globally. It is also the first Indian company to file an IND (Investigational New Drug Application) for a monoclonal antibody with the US FDA.
   2008- Glenmark received USD 15 million as milestone payments from Forest Labs, which is Glenmark's North American partner for Oglemilast, GRC 3886.

   2008- Glenmark's candidate for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Inflammation and Multiple Sclerosis - GRC 4039, entered Phase I trials with an approval from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency [MHRA] in the U.K.

   2007-  Signed a deal worth USD 350 Mn with Eli Lily for developing and marketing GRC 6211, Glenmark's lead molecule for treatment for pain conditions, for NA, Europe and Japan.

   2007- Signed a deal with Dyax Corporation for performing funded biologics research for three of Glenmark's targets in the areas of inflammation and oncology.

   2005- Signed a deal with Napo Pharmaceuticals for developing and marketing Crofelemer, Napo’s lead candidate for treatment for diarrhoea, for over 140 countries.

   2004- Signed a deal worth USD 53 Mn with Teijin Pharma Ltd. For developing and marketing Oglemilast for the Japanese territory.
   2004- Signed a deal worth USD 190 Mn with Forest Laboratories for developing and marketing Oglemilast, Glenmark's lead molecule for Asthma/ COPD for the North American region.
