The population in 2007 was 468 million people with a per capita income of USD 90. The per Capita income is growing fast and is forecasted to reach USD130 by 2012. The pharmaceutical market in the region is valued at USD 25.6 Bn with a forecast to reach USD 45-55 Bn by 2010. The Top 5 markets are Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, and Colombia.

Glenmark operates in Latin America and Caribbean through its two subsidiaries Glenmark Farmaceutica Ltda. located in Brazil and markets its products in over 10 countries across Latin America and Caribbean. Over 200 dossiers filed by Glenmark in Latin America and Caribbean are already approved, and it is filling another 190 dossiers. In 2007, Glenmark also launched products in the markets of Venezuela and Ecuador for the first time.

In Brazil, Glenmark filed a total of 24 dossiers and received approvals for marketing 10 products. Glenmark launched its first differentiated product Adacne Clin, a dermatology product which is a combination of Adapalene and Clindamycin launched for the first time by any company in the country. Glenmark's strategy will be to continue filing and launching differentiated products and establish its presence as a specialty segment player in Brazil.

Glenmark is focusing on the therapeutic areas of Dermatology, Respiratory, Gynaecology and Oncology in Latin America and Caribbean. Glenmark intends to file over 400 dossiers across Latin America and Caribbean in the years ahead.
